Edyoucore Talks Finance With the Baltimore Ravens
October 28, 2026
Financial readiness starts with questions. Baltimore Ravens players brought plenty to Edyoucore’s Financial Foundations series, exploring financial education through conversations about CPAs, taxes, agents, and the responsibilities of a professional career.
Across four sessions, players in their first through third years in the league participated in discussions and interactive exercises. Together, they connected financial concepts to real-life decisions.
From the opening David Ojabo case study to the final group session, Financial Foundations: Managing Your Advisory Team, the players’ engagement helped create a practical learning environment where questions were part of the work.

Financial education for Baltimore Ravens players
Early in a professional career, financial readiness can involve understanding several relationships at once. An athlete may work with an agent, a CPA, and other advisors, each with different responsibilities. Learning how those roles fit together is an important part of staying involved in one’s financial life.
The players brought questions about those relationships into the sessions, alongside broader discussions about financial readiness, taxes, and the situations they may encounter.
Connecting financial concepts to real life
A real-life story shared by David Ojabo gave the series a personal connection. His experience provided a starting point for discussing financial decisions through an athlete’s perspective, helping connect the educational material to life beyond the classroom.
The role-play day also brought professional perspectives into the room. David Lopez, a CPA, and Martin King, an attorney, CPA, and former agent, participated in the exercises, helping connect the discussion of advisory roles to real-world experience.
That connection carried through the series. Players contributed to discussions, asked thoughtful questions, and participated meaningfully in interactive exercises. The format gave them opportunities to work through concepts and consider how the material related to their own circumstances.
Managing an advisory team with greater understanding

The final group session brought the focus to managing an advisory team. For Edyoucore, this is a central part of financial education: helping athletes understand the professionals supporting them and prepare to take an active role in those relationships.
Across all four sessions, Baltimore Ravens players showed a willingness to engage with financial education. Their questions reinforced the value of making room for learning early in a professional career and connecting it to the decisions athletes face.
Continuing the learning with support from the Ravens
Two days of one-on-one sessions with Edyoucore founder Drew Hawkins are also planned as a follow-up to the group sessions. These individual conversations will give players another opportunity to ask questions and continue their financial education.
Edyoucore extends a special thank-you to Jameel McClain, Director of Player Engagement for the Baltimore Ravens, for his leadership and commitment to supporting players beyond the field. We also thank the Ravens organization for making financial education part of that support.
For teams and player development staff, this is an opportunity to support athletes beyond competition. For athletes and families, it is a reminder that financial readiness develops through learning, asking questions, and staying involved.
