Opportunity gets an athlete’s attention. Understanding what to do with it takes education. That belief brought Edyoucore to the Maryland NIL Summit in Baltimore on October 23 and 24, 2026. Through panel participation and sponsorship supporting 20 young people’s attendance, Edyoucore helped bring financial literacy into the conversation about name, image, and likeness and the responsibilities that come with opportunity.
Hosted by Renaissance Sports Group, the summit brought athletes, families, and sports professionals together for education and conversation. Edyoucore thanks Anthony Johnson and the Renaissance Sports Group team for making the event possible.
Financial literacy at the Maryland NIL Summit
Edyoucore participated in two sessions: “Hiring and Managing a Winning Advisory Team” and “Protect the Bag: Contracts, Compliance, Taxes, and Financial Readiness.” Together, these topics reflect an essential part of preparing athletes for the business side of sports: understanding both the decisions ahead and the professionals who can help navigate them.
A special thank-you goes to Isaac M. Gordon, CPA, MBA, of Gordon & Associates, and Victor Abiamiri, of Brown Advisory, for sharing their insights and contributing to the panel discussions.

For Edyoucore, financial education means helping athletes understand their financial lives well enough to participate in those decisions. That includes learning the fundamentals of money management, understanding the roles of financial professionals, and knowing when to ask for an explanation.
Those habits matter as athletes and families consider opportunities connected to name, image and likeness, or NIL. An opportunity can introduce unfamiliar conversations about compensation, contracts, taxes, and business relationships. Education gives athletes a foundation for approaching those conversations with greater understanding.
Preparation also extends to how athletes present themselves online. Ivory Tabb offered this reminder about building a digital presence before opportunity arrives:
“Social media is your résumé and your post should be considered your work history.”
“Leverage big moments before the moment happens.”

Questions that kept the conversation going
At the summit, attendees brought that willingness to learn. Panelists offered different perspectives, audience members asked thoughtful questions, and conversations continued after the sessions ended. People stayed to speak directly with panelists and explore the subjects further.
That continued engagement stood out to the Edyoucore team. Making room for questions is an essential part of our approach: a useful learning experience gives people space to connect a topic to their own circumstances.
Supporting access to NIL education
Supporting attendance for 20 young people also reflected Edyoucore’s commitment to helping emerging athletes access these conversations. Financial education has value early, while young people are developing the habits and relationships that will shape future decisions. That same focus guided Edyoucore’s NIL education conversations at the Triple Crown Invitational Fan Zone.
The Maryland NIL Summit reinforced why this work matters. Athletes and families want to understand what comes with opportunity. Schools, teams, and organizations can help by making practical financial education part of how they prepare young people for it.
