New Company Aims to Educate, Equip and Empower Individuals to Make Better Business, Financial and Lifestyle Decisions

Baltimore, Md. – Financial services veteran Drew Hawkins today announced the launch of edyoucore sports & entertainment, a company that will provide financial education and consulting services designed to educate, equip and empower individuals to make more informed business, financial and lifestyle decisions. Joining Hawkins is a team of industry experts, former athletes and entertainers including retired NFL player and current broadcaster, Bart Scott, retired NBA player and current broadcaster, Antoine Walker, and Tony Award winning actress, singer, director and producer, Tamara Tunie.

Edyoucore’s Director of Financial Education is Keva Sturdevant who brings 25 years of experience in the investment and money management arena and teaches financial education courses at colleges and universities across the country. Mitch Horan is edyoucore’s Director of Consulting Services. Horan is a 30-year Financial Services professional who has held senior management roles at Prudential, Morgan Stanley and Blackrock.

Senior Advisors include former University of Maryland Athletic Director, Kevin Anderson and longtime sports agent and current adjunct professor in Sports Law at the University of Virginia School of Law, Donald Dell. The entire edyoucore team is committed to their approach to early education and ongoing support.

Hawkins, who serves as edyoucore’s CEO said, “Throughout my career I have been passionate about teaching people who are uncomfortable or uneducated about finances. The financial literacy rate among the population at-large is not where it should be, and this is no different among athletes and entertainers.”  Hawkins added, “I am excited to launch edyoucore with a great team of people focused on educating, equipping and empowering individuals with the financial education they need to make better financial, business and lifestyle decisions.”

Edyoucore’s signature financial education program, “Playbook for Success,” will work with individual athletes and entertainers, as well as groups such as student-athletes, college athletic programs, professional leagues/teams, and talent agencies. Playbook for Success will empower them with relatable classroom content and online educational modules that are relevant to making key financial decisions during their lifetime.  The program will pair in-person sessions to a digital platform enabling participants to stay engaged for long-term learning.

Consulting services geared toward individuals include “F.E.A.T.” (Financial Education Analysis Training), which equips individuals with knowledge that empowers their decision-making capabilities and the ability to manage their financial playbook. “CEO of You, Inc.” will focus on the importance of vetting, selecting and managing members of advisory teams responsible for different aspects of an athlete or entertainer’s business affairs. “Private Investment and Evaluation” guides clients through the decision process when they are approached with investment opportunities, as well as assistance with monitoring, assessing and evaluating the performance of their private investments.

Prior to launching edyoucore, Hawkins worked with Morgan Stanley were he most recently served as Managing Director of its Global Sports & Entertainment Division, which he founded in 2014.  He remains commitment to social impact and is utilizing his previous experience to address the need to educate, equip and empower those in the sports and entertainment arena.

The announcement of edyoucore comes during National Financial Literacy Month, which is recognized in the United States every April to highlight the importance of financial education and maintaining healthy financial habits.  According to a 2018 InvestmentNews survey of financial advisers, 78% strongly agree that financial literacy is an issue in the United States. Edyoucore’s objective is to combat this trend through education, as well as changing and setting new standards for the industry.
